something that only i think is weird [Mar. 18th, 2005|04:32 pm]
North Carolina was winning by 26 at halftime over Oakland
Oakland had scored one less point than Villanova at halftime
Villanova was still winning by 23 at half over New Mexico.

How, in an NCAA game, can you only score 11 points in a half? It's the biggest game of your life. God New Mexico you suck. As a school and a state.

[Current Music |Whatever Sharleyne (the other co-op) is listening to]

Yesterday some bad things happened:

Found out lumps was no more

The Sixers lost

Had the weirdest dream I think I've ever had and was sweating the entire night for some reason

But more good happened:

We found out we're playing in the city 6 tournament for intramural basketball this year at St. Joe's on the 19th. Everyone shoudl come watch

An all new Inferno started!! I'm so gay

Finished my tenth to last day of the worst co-op ever

On to the rest of my life.

I was reading the inquirer yesterday and they had the salaries of every phillies player in there, but for tomas perez, i believe, it could have been someone else, they couldn't list the salary because of the unsure government in venezuela. He could be making 20 million dollars and no one would know, it's genius.

Things I Think About at Work (Volume IV) [Feb. 25th, 2005|10:07 am]
If I were an NBA GM, i would never draft a european player. How many actually pan out, like five percent? Along the same lines, I wouldn't draft a high school player either, because most of the ones who become good it takes years before they do and they usually switch teams. I would only draft guys that had been in college two years and that I have watched play. Doesn't seem that hard to do, but look at the last few years drafts in teh first round how many from each are any good right now? seven, eight? when you only get to draft two guys a year, you think that would be a higher number, wouldn't you?

Things I Think About at Work (Volume III) [Feb. 16th, 2005|02:36 pm]
[Current Mood | annoyed]
[Current Music |Mariah Carey - Honey (Bad Boy Remix)]

I read a lot of messageboards at work because they provide the most stuff to read usually, not the most interesting or helpful, but just something. Anyway, on these boards people usually put IMO or IMHO before their posts, which stand for in my opinion and in my humble opinion, respectively. Why do you have to put that? obviously if you are posting it's going to be your opinion, unless you are directly quoting something else which would be obvious since you would probably say something about it. Anyway, just another thing that annoys me.

Out.

Also, I'm upset hockey got cancelled. yea that's right, i don't watch much, but i like the playoffs and sometimes watching a little flyers.

Things I Think About At Work (Volume II) [Feb. 10th, 2005|09:20 am]
You know that phrase "balls to the wall"? Where did that come from, and what does it mean? My balls have never been anywhere near a wall, and I can't think of a circumstance where they would be. Also, is there a female equivalent to this phrase? something like "tits to the floor"? Again, your input is appreciated.

Is there a such thing as a monster piss? I know I can take a monster dump, but has anyone ever used the phrase "monster piss"? And under what circumstances would a piss be considered monster? After a six hour car ride with no stops where you drank three bottles of water? Or after chugging five beers? Your input is required as this discussion rattles through my brain.

Two Days . . . [Feb. 4th, 2005|10:31 am]
[Current Mood | anxious]
[Current Music |Eagles Fight Song]

In a mere two days I will be waking up on what could turn into the greatest day of my short life. Two days until I get to watch a super bowl that matters to me. Two days until the commercials don't matter. Two days until an Eagles jersey is still acceptable in February. Two days until Philadelphia starts preparing for a parade. Two days until a championship game matters for the first time since Senior Week. TWO DAYS. . . TWO DAYS . . . TWO DAYS . . . AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT. PLAY THE GAME RIGHT NOW!!!! PLAY THE GAME!!!!!

On another note, I took off work yesterday because I didn't feel like going in and also because I had to schedule for classes for next term. I got the schedule I was trying for, though not the schedule I wanted since they changed the time/day of one class I wanted, a teacher of another, and others filled up with seniors and honors kids before i got my crack at them. overall, its not bad, except i do have a long break on monday and wednesday. mondays i have two classes, tuesdays i have three, wednesdays, i three, and thursdays i have three. fridays off so it should be alright.

Intramural basketball update:
Our male team is 3-0 on the year and we are currently ranked number 6 in the drexel power rankings. we have our division championship game monday night at 630, who knows what kind of shape we will be in for that after sunday, but we are playing a team we beat 42-40 earlier in the season, so we should be able to win. If we win that we play next monday again at 630 against the number one team in the league, so if we can beat them, we should be able to win it all. I have no worries, especially since it's sam and scott's team and I'll dunk on sam's head 5 or 6 times till they finally give up.

Our co ed team has been struggling and we are 1-1 going into the playoffs, our first game in next sunday against another 1-1 team, but we should be able to win. we haven't been shooting well and our last game we missed, no lie, at least 20 layups so it wasn't as close as the score says. I'm not worried about co-ed as we should be able to cruise to the drexel championship, now that we actually have enough girls to have subs.

Not much going on this weekend as everyone is getting ready for the big game, maybe ill go see a movie or something, if anyone is interested. I'm watching the game at my house, so if you have nowhere to go feel free to stop by. Wombat chainsaw and shane will be there watching with eric so it might get a little rowdy.

I hate my job, have i ever mentioned that? anyway, back to work.

TWO DAYS . . . . . .

Kevin "Big Nuts" Brady

P.S. if you want my prediction for the game, you can check my playoff preview entry, because I'm such a genius i picked both teams in the superbowl and my prediction is down there.

Once again I am shocked, SHOCKED, that our man, Merrill Hoge Podge has picked against the eagles in the NFC championship game. Last week he actually picked the vikings and i would think it totally fagalicious of him to pick anyone but the falcons this week, based on his philosophy for the whole season, which basically boiled down to: Steelers will win, not matter who they play. Eagles will lose, no matter who they play. And I'm sure in two weeks Hoge will pick the patriots or steelers to win, because otherwise my world would end.

Thanks a lot John Clayton. [Jan. 19th, 2005|10:21 am]
Dealing with a disability
"One of the more interesting stories of this April's running back-rich NFL draft is that of Washington State's Chris Bruhn, who will showcase his skills at Saturday's Hula Bowl. Bruhn played two seasons fighting through a learning disability that made it tough for him to retain plays. Bruhn clenched his left or right fist coming out of the huddle to help him remember the direction of the play. He's also taking special-education classes to improve his retention."

This was a story John Clayton did on Sportscenter this morning. Yes, its a nice story, but how did defenses not pick up on the fact they just had to look at this guy's hands to see where he was going. And if no one picked up on it in college, he may have gotten drafted, but now the whole sports world knows how to tell what play is coming. I can't see anyway that this kid gets drafted now. John Clayton ruined his chances.

Don't Just Give that trophy to the AFC yet [Jan. 4th, 2005|11:11 am]
[Current Mood | bored]
[Current Music |Counting Crows - August and Everything After]

You know what? I don't think an AFC team will win the super bowl this year. Even if it's not the Eagles representing the NFC, I think the falcons or packers (as long as Brett Favre doesn't go crazy) would have a legitimate shot at beating the team that comes out of the AFC bracket, and you want to know why? Because the AFC has better teams.

Doesn't make sense? Sure it does. Whichever team (probably the steelers or the patriots) comes out of the AFC bracket will probably have to play two tough, hard, emotionally draining games. The steelers could face the Jets, Chargers, or Broncos in teh second round and those are three tough, defensive minded teams that will pound the ball physically on the ground. The Patriots could face the Colts, Chargers, or Jets in teh second round and the Colts, while not having a great defense, played the Patriots very tough the last few times they have met and could wear them down. Assuming the Patriots and Steelers survive those games they would then face each other, which would be another tough, grind it out type game which would be very physical. I believe whatever team comes out of the AFC will be beat up and so emotionally and physically drained for the super bowl that they will get beaten in teh big one. Look at what happened this year in the NBA, the West had 7 or 8 teams who could have competed to win the EAstern conference, while the EAst only really had two legitimate contenders. The western teams beat each other up and by the time the Lakers made it to the finals, they got handled by the Pistons.

The NFC playoff picture looks like it create some high scoring, shoot-out type games. The rams, Vikings, Packers, and Seahawks all have teams that do not have great defenses, and really rely on their offenses to win them games. The falcons defense, while playing very well this year, is not really one that will shut a team down and they really rely on Michael Vick to win games for them. The eagles are the only team in the conference who can legitimately say that if their offense sputters they can look to the defense to carry them to at least one win in the playoffs, and maybe more. This means that the NFC bracket is not going to produce as many "slobberknockers" and thus the team that prevails should come out healthier and fresher than the AFC competitor.

I'm going to make some predictions now as to how I think the playoffs will play out, and they will probably end up being wrong so don't make fun of me too much. Here goes:

Round One
Jets @ Chargers : Chargers
Broncos @ Colts : Colts
Vikings @ Packers : Packers
Rams @ Seahawks : Rams

Round Two
Rams @ Eagles : Eagles
Packers @ Falcons : Packers
Chargers @ Steelers: Chargers
Colts @ Patriots : Patriots

Championship Games
Chargers @ Patiots : Patriots
Packers @ Eagles : Eagles

Super Bowl
Eagles Vs. Patriots : Eagles 24, Patiots 16

The games I had the most trouble picking were the Jets/Chargers and the Packers/ Falcons. The think the winner of the Jets/Chargers game will go into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers, but I'm not sure why, I just have this feeling. The only reason I picked the Chargers here was because John ABraham is probably out for this game, if he were playing I would have picked the Jets, becasue I don't really trust Drew Brees. The packers/falcons game was tough for me to pick because of brett favre in the dome. But i had to go with him because the falcons offense just doesn't impress me and Michael Vick still has a tender left shoulder.

Well, there are my picks, take them or leave them.
